Many Tanganyikan Cichlids, such as shell dwelling Neolamprologus species, utilize shells for protection, homes, and most importantly, places to breed and raise their young. Here at our tropical fish hatchery, we use snail shells that have been collected to put in a sandy substrate in fish tanks to give many of our shell swelling fish a place to breed. The fish raise their young in the shells until they are old enough to venture out on their own.
Sizing will vary due to the nature of being naturally occurring shells but we can guarantee the following dimensions
Shell Diameter: 1″-1.5″ or greater
Shell Opening Size: 1″-1.5″ x 2.0″
