Probiotics are no longer only found in yogurts or as food supplements for humans – they have also taken their rightful place in ornamental fish nutrition. Since 2016, the intestinal flora stabilizerBacillus velezensis(formerlyB. subtilis) has been approved for use in ornamental fish feed and is even expressly recommended by the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) to improve growth and feed utilization.

sera was the first manufacturer to react promptly in 2016 and launched an innovative probiotic koi food: Koi All Seasons Probiotic. As part of the rebranding of the sera brand, the name was changed to Koi Professional Probiotic.

Koi Professional Probiotic is suitable for year-round feeding of koi at water temperatures above 8 C. The co-extruded granules contain – in addition to the natural, functional ingredients that are already standard at sera, such as MOS, beta-glucans, Haematococcus algae, spirulina, etc. – the probioticBacillus velezensis, which stabilizes the intestinal flora of the fish. This promotes their health and improves feed utilization. The koi grow quickly and evenly and the water is less contaminated with fish-toxic and algae-promoting waste products. In order to benefit from these positive effects all year round, the special food should replace the respective seasonal food at least a few times a week throughout the year (at water temperatures above 8 C). Of course, it is also excellently suited as a main food.

Koi Professional line

With the Koi Professional line, sera offers premium food types for Koi that take into account the needs of the cold-blooded animals during the different seasons (spring & fall, summer, winter). In addition, there are two functional food types, Koi Professional Color and Probiotic, that can be fed all year round. Koi Professional Junior was specially developed to meet the nutritional needs of small Koi.
