Remarks: Satanoperca jurupari are closely related to Geophagus species and require a sandy substrate due to their earth-eating habits. S. jurupari differ from their relatives, S. daemon, by lacking any black spots when not stressed. Their bodies shine a metallic gold and they are fairly peaceful for their size.
