Pileanummulariifolia is a fast growing, terrestrial species with bright green leaves and a pubescent stem. It is native to the Caribbean and South America. It is also known commonly as creeping Charlie. This Pilea does well in bright, indirect light and moderate humidity, but can tolerate lower or higher light conditions…it is not picky. It helps if it is in lower light. Many choose to keep it in low light to decrease its spread, as it can easily take over a vivarium.It does not require much ventilation, but also does not require that much humidity. Moist soil and sphagnum moss are helpful for rooting this species. It roots quickly. These Pilea are easy to propagate.

All of our cuttings have adventitious, aerial roots. Our rooted specimens will have at least a few active roots and will be established plants. Our plants are grown in high humidity in terrariums and greenhouses, therefore may need acclimation to the average home humidity / environment.
