Remarks: The popular giant danio is one of the largest in its genus making it an excellent dither fish for larger species. They come from clear, fast flowing streams so they appreciate a tank with clean, highly oxygenated water but have proven to be very tolerant of a wide range of parameters. While the giant danio is generally peaceful, its boisterous and high-energy disposition may frighten more shy species so this should be taken into consideration when choosing tank-mates.

If kept in small numbers, it is likely for this fish to become stressed and nip the fins of tankmates. The best way to prevent this is to keep them in groups of 6 or more so they are preoccupied with displaying and sparring rather than harassing other species.
