The name “Phantom” Fluorite is applied to Fluorite crystals with a visibly darker colored crystal core within, a ghost or phantom of the crystal during its formation still remaining in the interior. The darker color is caused by differing conditions and impurities during formation that changedover time leaving the area closer to the crystal’s surface lighter or more transparent.
