Remarks: Odessa barbs are small, active, vibrant, shoaling fish that look fantastic in a planted aquarium. They do well in tanks with both slow or heavy flow making them excellent tankmates for many species including those requiring a hillstream set up. Male Odessa Barbs turn bright red with shiny gold scales. They may not fully color up without the presence of females.

If kept in small numbers, it is likely for this fish to become stressed and nip the fins of tankmates. The best way to prevent this is to keep them in groups of 6 or more so they are preoccupied with displaying and sparring rather than harassing other species.
